About me
Dr. Brian Keene's journey into acting is a rich tapestry woven from diverse experiences. His acting career began at age 4 appearing on Romper Room in the mid-1960s. He also featured as an extra in two feature films: Harry in Your Pocket (1973) starring James Coburn, and Bronco Billy (1980) starring Clint Eastwood. While a couple of commercials filmed in the 1980s never aired, his passion for performance continued through theater in grade school, junior high, and high school.
After a 40-year hiatus from the stage, Brian joined Magic Valley Repertory Theatre for multiple productions in the last three years and began studying theatre at the College of Southern Idaho two years ago. A practiced public speaker, he has presented over 100 teacher in-service programs and taught college classes at four different colleges. He even filled in for President Jimmy Carter for about 10 minutes at a conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In his younger years, Brian sang with a country western band around Boise, Meridian, Kuna, and Nampa, Idaho. He is a U.S. military veteran and Army retiree, with two years active duty in the Navy and 30 years in the Army Reserve, including service in two wars. Brian is also retired from school systems in California, Nevada, and Utah. Currently, he teaches math at the College of Southern Idaho and lives in Twin Falls, Idaho, with his wife and two youngest daughters. Notably, he has played Santa Claus in the Philippines and at local schools and churches. He is easily recognizable, distinguished by his thick curly white hair and full white beard.
